How can an old woman have children?
Nabi Yahya (John), besides writing the Injil, led an interesting life.
1. His miraculous birth
When King Herod reigned over Judea, Nabi Zakariya (Zechariah) served as a priest at the temple in Jerusalem. The Prophet Zakariya's wife, Elizabeth, was also a descendant of a priestly family. Both of them lived righteously in the sight of Allah, obeying the sharia and all the statutes of God. But the couple had no children, because Elizabeth was barren. Both she and the Prophet Zakariya were very old.
One day...the angel said to the Prophet Zakariya, "Zakariya, do not be afraid. Allah has heard your prayers and your wife Elisabeth will have a son. Name the child Yahya… he will bring back many of the descendants of the Prophet Ya'qub (Jacob) to Allah their Lord.”
Elizabeth became pregnant by the power of Al Ruhul Kudusu (The Spirit of God) and gave birth to a son, who was… Nabi Yahya.
It is a miracle that an old woman like Elizabeth at the age of 88 could have a baby, but everything is possible by the power of Allah.
