His name is Almasih

Almasih

In the Holy Scripture only the Prophet Isa is called “Al-Masih.”

“Al Masih” has a deeper meaning than you might think.   It is the way that will lead us to the true path.

The word Al-Masih (مسيح) is derived from the Hebrew Hamachiak (המשיח), meaning anointed or appointed. In the tradition of the Jews, this anointing is done with holy oil.

So, anointed to do what?  According to Jewish beliefs, the Messiah was anointed as king from the line of Prophet David in order to free the Jews from oppression by other nations, unite the Jews as one nation, restore the Temple in Jerusalem and bring peace to all people.  The many roles and duties of Al-Masih were foretold in the early scriptures; the Taurat (Torah), the Zabur (Psalms) and the writings of the prophets.

However, in the previous scriptures such as the Book of Nabi David and the writings of the prophets, including Prophet Ishaya (Isaiah), Nabi Danyal (Daniel), and Prophet Zakariya (Zachariah) it stated that before Al-Masih would achieve the goal of bringing peace to that nation, he would have to suffer and even sacrifice his life.  This was not only to bring peace but, as our Savior, to also purify us from our sins.

What this means will be discussed in the next section
