Love Requires Sacrifice
Between hundreds of people and only one young son, someone must die. Who will you choose to help?
A man works as a switchman. He had only one son whom he loved very much. And his son is also very fond of watching trains, so his father often takes his son to work with him.
The train was full of people – some of them were happy; some were lonely; some were angry; some were selfish while others were addicted to drugs
When the train is about to reach a point where he has to switch tracks. Father tells his son “You wait here. Daddy's going to switch the tracks first. Don't go anywhere! Just wait here for 30 minutes.”
“Yes father.”
The train has to pass over a bridge over a river. But The bridge must be raised to allow boats through on the river. The bridge will only be moved down when a train is about to pass through.
Today the switchman is just about to lower the bridge to allow the train to pass over the river.
While the train is coming, a boat is still moving slowly in the middle of the river. The man waits for the boat to pass clear of the bridge first then he can move the bridge down. And he knows that there is still time before the train arrives.
His little son sees the train approaching! But the bridge has not been lowered. The Little boy tries to call his father But his father can’t hear him….
The little boy tries to help his father by walking closer to his father.
But the little boy falls into a small hole which is part of the bridge!
“Father, father, help!!”
His father, the switchman, hears the call and turns to follow the sound. He finds his son trapped under the bridge which he has to move down.
If he goes to help his child, the whole train will fall into the river. Many people will die … but if he moves the bridge down, the train will cross the river safely. But the bridge will crush his beloved son to death!!
Up to now - If you were the switchman, the little boy’s father, “Who would you choose to help?”
Between those in the train and the apple of your eye, your own four year old son?
This man chooses…. “Move down the bridge!” so that many will be saved but he had to "sacrifice" his only son.
The love of Allah is like that too.
“Because Allah loves the world very much. to the extent that he gave His only beloved al-Masih so that everyone who believes in him may not perish. but have everlasting life.” Injil, Yah 3:16
